The science of self-development

Though we once thought that the number of our brain cells was fixed and that we would inevitably decline with age, science has recently proven that the brain can continue to grow and develop and that it is incredibly plastic and malleable. Growth occurs when the brain is engaged in positive, enjoyable or challenging activities that we repeat, that attract our attention and that we interested in.

Continue to improve with age

Big Shakti gives you techniques to take a conscious role in your own self-development so that you continue to improve rather than deteriorate with age. The meditations on this site are some of the best and most powerful methods to support the growth of new brain cells, to improve your mind and to reduce the negative impact of stresses and aging.

" I feel very clear, sharp, balanced, connected, tall, strong, together - does all that make sense? Basically I feel it balances and connects my mind, body and soul so that I feel ready to cope with whatever comes my way for the rest of the day!! Thanks once again Jayne and Swami Shankardev"

The science of self-awareness

The science of self-development rests on an exploration of consciousness using self-enquiry to increase self-awareness. We need to ask ourselves, Who am I? Am I the brain or mind? Or am I something else?

Health and mental strength are side-effects of self-awareness

As we begin to explore ourselves using appropriate meditation techniques we become more conscious of who we are and are better able to direct our lives. This leads to greater self-knowledge, self-empowerment, self-love, self-confidence and self-actualization. Health of body and mind are side-effects of a systematic exploration of consciousness.

The plastic brain

The self-development techniques on this site help you to harness the brains incredible ability to invent and reinvent itself throughout life. The human brain is incredibly resilient. Our brain is incredible beyond belief in terms of its potential and possibilities. It can change shape and create new connections between neurons (brain cells) to replace lost or damaged cells.

Nourish your brain's connections

Big Shakti meditation techniques such as the Core Strength Calm Mind meditations are some of the best ways to direct our attention inwards allowing us to gain control over parts of our body and mind. This automatically has a positive impact on the brain encouraging the growth of more nerve cells and connections.

The awesome power of the mind

Our mind is our most powerful and precious possession. It is an awesome force that needs to be consciously nourished, cultivated and channeled if it is not to turn on us and create a living hell for us in the form of anxiety and depression, for example.

Inject powerful healing energy into your mind

The mind is the foundation of who we are as an individual self and it creates our total reality. It is the source of all our problems and also of all our solutions. By consciously applying meditation techniques with clear intention and a positive goal we can channel the awesome power of the mind to create an uplifting and fulfilling life.

Self-development techniques such those found on the Illuminating Your Heart's Desire CD/MP3  help us to connect to and experience the power of our mind in order to fulfill our desires and our life purpose.

Testimonials

We were all entranced by the whole Yoga of The Heart film. There is so much beauty and inspiration in it for all of us. Thank you so much for giving us such a priceless gift. It will be there for a lifetime for the yoga community from now on. I watched it again last night and noticed more things that I had missed the first time. It's a real shakti hit! So a big thank you to you both.
