Embodied Dreamwork Sessions
With Jayne Stevenson
Your dream is a call from your deepest self to be recognized and explored. Embodied Dreamwork Sessions extract precious knowledge contained in symbolic, archetypal and cryptic forms within your dreams. Decoding this knowledge is revelatory and transformative!
Why is Dreamwork Important?
Dream imagery; the events, people, environments, and objects, are all significant phenomena created by the inner you, the dreamer. Your dream imagery is a direct transmission from your psyche, giving you access to the deeper feelings and the super-intelligence that lies beneath your conscious mind.
Dreams bring all kinds of treasures including new perspectives on problems, creative inspiration, insights into dormant talents and traits, the motivation required for authentic change, and, of course, wisdom.
One of the most powerful ways to obtain these treasures is by revisiting the dream and exploring it while you are awake, noticing the feelings within the body that arise as you relive your dream. This is embodied dreamwork.
What Happens in Embodied Dreamwork Sessions?
Embodied Dreamwork touches the parts of you which are unknown, unfamiliar, or deliberately concealed, but which seek recognition and expression.
In this process, I guide you back into your dream and navigate the landscape of the dream with you. It’s like an archeological dig but the landscape here is your psyche. We discover treasures, both light and dark. All matter encountered is important and carries knowledge about you.
We also explore the dream from a symbolic perspective which enables connection with the personal and archetypical symbols stirring within you.
The process of embodied dreamwork creates an internal map, which I form into a short meditation for you to practice. The meditation integrates the diverse parts of you, bringing them into relationship with one another. Your meditation is your unique healing formula, your alchemical potion that brings about healing and a new alignment within your body, mind and psyche.
Recurring daydreams, obsessions, memories, fears, and desires are also parts of your dream-life. If you ignore these recurring events, for example, by telling yourself you are indulging in fantasy, you repress important aspects of yourself that are continually asking for your attention.
While their meaning may not be immediately clear, exploration of this phenomena reveals the deeper stirrings that are seeking expression.
Embodied Dreamwork Sessions are equally powerful when used to explore waking dream-states.
Dreams, Imagination, and Your Visioning Muscle
As you begin to work with your dreams you re-engage your imagination and rebuild your visioning muscle. For a time, you step away from habitual consciousness.
The visioning muscle is essential for anyone who wants to create themselves and their lives in a way that is different from how it is today. All the great mystics and spiritual adepts used their visioning muscle as the primary skill for self-cultivation and worldly manifestations. Once you step into this power you too can begin to use your will and your intention more consciously and much more effectively.
As we become adults society tends to suppress imagination. We are trained to allow external imagery to guide us, instead of our internal vision. This creates confusion about identity and possible achievements, as it can motivate us to aim for the wrong things. Relying on external stimuli to model our possibilities suppresses our mystery, uniqueness, and true purpose.
Embodied Dreamwork empowers your imagination and your visioning muscle. You begin to see and experience yourself in as a wondrous, wild, complex being – once again!
