Description

Facing the Shadow Online Seminars explore the journey from darkness to light and from limited consciousness to blazing self-awareness.

These recorded seminars reveal and examine the psychological shadow from both the Western Psychology and from the Yoga Psychology perspective. This a unique study to Big Shakti.

This unique study to Big Shakti is a rare opportunity for you to learn from a medical doctor, psychotherapist and yoga master in the comfort of your own home.

You’ll learn about the force that separates you from wholeness, how the shadow operates in the world, in society, and in relationships. You learn about the shadow from both Eastern and Western perspectives, and in relationship to ego and identity.

Mostly, you will discover how an unexplored and unconscious shadow hides your true nature and prevents you from living an expressive and authentic life. You’ll gain knowledge and tools to remedy this.

Discover how to:

  • engage with the disowned parts of you
  • manage negative feelings; shame, resentment, anger
  • understand why you may project your shadow onto others
  • establish a positive relationship with your shadow
  • integrate the shadow into your higher self (and not become absorbed into it)

Her in-depth studies of the mind through the works of Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell have evolved into deep insight, intuition, and knowledge about the human psyche and dream states.

Western Psychology and the Shadow

From the western perspective and in Jungian psychology, the shadow refers to the unconscious aspects of the personality which the conscious ego does not identify with. It contains the parts of us that we cannot accept and that we therefore reject.

We tend to reject the least desirable parts of our personality and therefore the shadow contains largely negative elements. The shadow also contains many of the strengths and abilities that we cannot accept in ourselves.

Everyone carries a shadow and the less embodied it is in the individual’s conscious life the blacker and denser it is.
Carl Jung

The shadow can drive us to think, feel and act in ways that are very destructive. Therefore, in order to develop a healthy psyche we need to engage with and enlighten the shadow. Certain forms of yoga and meditation are wonderfully suited to this task.

Yoga Psychology and the Shadow

In yoga psychology, the shadow refers to the psychic sheath which connects our ego to the universal self. Certain yoga and meditation techniques, which we teach in this seminar, enable us to illuminate the psychic sheath and integrate the shadow elements contained within it into our conscious mind.

The knowledge and techniques taught in this seminar enable us to be aware of the shadow in everyday life so that we are not driven by it, and to develop the psychic maturity to be able to integrate elements of the shadow into our conscious ego to become a more sane person. We move from being a divided self to a unified self.

It’s important to be aware that your shadow exists and that you are driven by dark forces no matter how much you wish to relate to and project the light forces.
