eMag ~ Consciously Connecting To Your Life Force

India Tour

As we enter 2026, our heartfelt wish for you is that your lifeforce becomes clearer, kinder, and more aligned with what you truly value, so that this year brings a deeper cooperation with your own energy.

Because before any goal, promise, or resolution can take shape, something subtler happens: a shift in your lifeforce. Different traditions call it by many names – energy, prana, shakti, chi. Each refers to that powerful yet invisible force that keeps us alive through breath, blood, mind, and spirit.

This January, our focus at Big Shakti centers on these essential questions:

How can you relate more consciously and creatively to the life force that animates you?

How can you preserve and build that life force?

Energy Is Your First Language

You already know your life force intimately. You feel it when you wake in the morning: bright or dull, clear or foggy, open or closed. You understand it in the quality of your attention, the content of your thoughts, the way you respond to people, and how you move through your day.

Long before you speak words, your energy is already communicating. Through your nervous system – calm or keyed-up, stuck or fluid. Through your breath – shallow or deep, hurried or rhythmic. Through your body – tired or tight, grounded or scattered. Through your subtle energy field – the atmosphere others feel before you even say a word.

And yet, most people ignore what their energy is telling them. They try to achieve their aims and desires by focusing only on behavior, ignoring their actual energy levels. They push against exhaustion. Eventually, they burn out.

There is a more intelligent way to work with your life force. It begins where real change actually begins: with its conscious cultivation.

Prana is the life of all beings; therefore it is called the Universal Life ~ Taittiriya Upanishad (2.2.1)

Reflection

Here are four reflection points to consider as you move through the month:

  1. Where did my energy go last year?

Notice where your lifeforce was regularly drained – particular habits, relationships, environments, or thought patterns.

  2. Where did my energy feel nourished?

Remember moments of genuine vitality – practices, people, work, places, or inner attitudes that replenished you.

  3. What kind of energy do I want to embody more of this year?

Calm steadiness? Creative fire? Clear focus? Gentle compassion? Name it clearly.

  4. What one daily practice could honour that intention?

A regular meditation practice, journaling, a conscious pause before you check your phone – choose something specific and doable.

These questions begin to reorganize your prana in accordance with your intention.

Resting in India to renew our life force

Behind the scenes at Big Shakti, we’ve also been feeling just how much energy the past few years have asked of us.

Like many of you, we’ve moved through big cycles, caring for loved ones, relocating cities, while supporting our beloved clients and students. But even our best aims and desires draw deeply on our lifeforce.

And like many of you, we've also witnessed the constant evidence of global uncertainty. We are not immune to the world's pain; it takes a toll on all of us if we let ourselves feel it.

So early this year, we’re heading to India for a quiet, restorative trip. Though we'd love to fill our days with travel and sightseeing, we've chosen something much simpler: We want to stay put, to rest in a few places with friends, and let the atmosphere do its work. This journey is less about “going somewhere” and more about gathering ourselves. We’re giving our nervous systems permission to downshift, to digest the last few years, and to listen carefully for what wants to emerge from the stillness.

We hope to bring back whatever insights arise from this time of “just being” and share them with you in the months ahead.

And you?

Is there a tender way you can honor the fact that it’s been a considerable time for you before you push ahead – a pocket of stillness, a nourishing friendship, or a simple ritual that lets your own life force experience itself?

May your year be blessed!

Jayne and Swami Shankardev
